Mounting political tension and rising violence in the United States are prompting a growing number of citizens to leave the country in search of stability. Spain has emerged as the second most popular choice for relocation, just behind Portugal, according to a recent survey.

Relocation consultants report surging demand: one American woman, who moved to Catalonia a decade ago and now advises compatriots, told laSexta that in the past year her clientele has expanded rapidly. Whereas once most were retirees, she is now seeing increasing numbers of younger professionals seeking a new start abroad.
Alastair Johnson, founder of Moving To Spain, noted that the US has been gripped by ‘turmoil, anger and fear’. By contrast, Spain is seen as offering the opposite: relative calm, safety and a strong public services system. Lower living costs — roughly 30% cheaper than in the US — and lifestyle advantages are also driving the trend.
While Spain faces its own internal political disputes, it remains a magnet for Americans looking to escape division and instability at home.
