Barcelona’s Raval district saw a flat fire on Thursday morning, with eight people treated for smoke inhalation after the blaze at Carrer Nou de la Rambla, 92. Firefighters from Bombers de Barcelona responded quickly after the alert came in at 11:30.
Crews put out the flames shortly before 12:00. Several fire engines stayed on site afterwards to douse the affected home and make sure it did not reignite.
The fire caused temporary traffic disruption on Carrer Nou de la Rambla, a busy street in the Raval. The road reopened to vehicles shortly after 13:00, once firefighters had finished their checks and collected their equipment.
The Sistema d'Emergències Mèdiques (SEM) treated all eight people at the scene. None needed hospital transfer for serious injuries, according to the report by betevé.
This incident comes after several other recent fire-related events in Barcelona, including a butane cylinder explosion in Poblenou on 12 May, a fatal apartment fire on Gran Via on 22 April, and a rooftop fire at Hotel Pulitzer on Carrer de Bergara on 12 April.
