Ripollet has started major urban remodelling works on Carrer de Sarrià de Ter, impacting traffic and public transport from Monday, 27 April. The project, between Carrer de Tamarit and Carrer de Sant Jaume, aims for completion in early 2027.
The local council is funding the €964,612 project, which includes VAT. Barcino Grup Obres i Serveis SL will execute the works over a 10-month period. Residents will see new lighting, updated water pipes, and renewed pavement.
Urban Renewal Goals
Additionally, the plans include wider pavements, new garden areas, and a reorganisation of pedestrian and vehicle flow. The council aims to create a more pleasant and accessible public space, according to Ripollet municipality Wikipedia information. This will promote meeting points and climate shelters for the community.
The remodelling will cause traffic diversions and road closures. Two bus stops will also relocate during the construction period. These changes will affect daily commutes for many Ripollet residents.
Traffic Diversions and Bus Stop Changes
Officials from Urban Planning, Mobility, and the Local Police worked to minimise disruption. However, some diversions and cuts to circulation are unavoidable. The works will proceed in two phases to maintain traffic flow.
One lane will remain open for vehicles and buses entering Ripollet from Carrer de Sant Jaume. Vehicles and buses leaving Ripollet must use Carrer de Josep de Viure, Rizal, and Montcada. They will then reach Carrer de Sant Jaume.
Drivers coming from Rambla de Sant Jordi can also use Carrer de Covadonga to reach Carrer de Sant Jaume. These routes will help manage the flow of traffic through the affected area. Local signage will guide drivers.
Public Transport Adjustments
Two bus stops will change location due to the works. The stop in front of Centre Reto is cancelled. It will move to Carrer de Josep de Viure, between Carrer de Sarrià de Ter and Carrer de Fontanella.
The bus stop at Rambla de Sant Jordi with Plaça Font is also cancelled. This stop will relocate to Carrer de Rizal. It will be situated between Rambla de Sant Jordi and Carrer de Monturiol.
The local council expects the project to significantly improve the quality of public space in Ripollet. Residents should plan for continued traffic adjustments throughout the 10-month construction period. The full benefits of the remodelling will become apparent upon its completion in early 2027.
