Barcelona company Roll’eat’s joining forces with the Generalitat to promote sustainable food habits in schools. The partnership focuses on Bio Week for Organic Food, running from 11th to 17th October across Catalunya.

Roll’eat specialises in reducing single-use plastics. They’re supplying 12,000 Boc’n’Roll Bio units for educational activities organised by the Agriculture and Education departments. These sandwich wraps are biodegradable, compostable and made in Catalunya. That makes them a proper local, sustainable alternative.

The company’s involvement centres on activities for schools. They’re supporting workshops, sustainability debates and awareness campaigns. Moreover, Roll’eat will present products to winning schools at the School, Agriculture and Organic Food Awards. Each event receives 30 to 40 Boc’n’Roll Bio units.

CEO Meritxell Hernández explains their approach. “With the Boc’n’Roll Bio collection, we’re taking another step towards circular economy. We’re backing materials that respect the environment and local production.” However, this isn’t just about products. It’s about changing habits from an early age.

Bio Week offers diverse programming across Catalan regions. Alt Pirineu features high-altitude vineyards at wineries like Llivins SL. Girona’s exploring beekeeping with “Where do bees spend autumn?” at Mel La Calma. Meanwhile, Lleida wineries like Mas Blanch i Jové showcase organic wine production.

Tarragona hosts events on forest-vineyard relationships organised by the Winemakers Association. Terres de l’Ebre focuses on sustainable carob cultivation and quality organic oil from Identitat Olive Oil and Associació Econau.

Barcelona hosts activities at Mercat de la Flor i la Planta Ornamental and the SlowFood Educa Awards in Cornellà de Llobregat. Central Catalunya’s Biolord project demonstrates organic mountain apple cultivation. School visits are planned in Anoia, Segarra and Sant Guim de Freixenet.

The collaboration extends beyond Bio Week. Roll’eat will continue supplying reusable sandwich wraps throughout the school year. This reinforces their joint commitment to sustainability, food preservation and environmental education.
