Global music sensation Rosalía concluded her 'Lux Tour' in Barcelona on Saturday, delivering an emotional farewell at the Palau Sant Jordi after four sold-out concerts. The acclaimed artist expressed profound gratitude to her hometown and the mentors who supported her early career, marking a poignant end to her performances in the Catalan capital.
Rosalía opened her final Barcelona show with the initial tracks from her album, "Sexo, violencia y llantas" (Sex, Violence and Tyres) and "Reliquia" (Relic). She shared her deep connection to the city with the audience. "Barcelona, you move everything in me," the singer acknowledged, according to EFE news agency. She described Barcelona as a central point in her emotional landscape, a place that both evokes the past and inspires future aspirations.
Gratitude to Mentors and Hometown Roots
The artist, originally from Sant Esteve Sesrovires, a town in the Barcelona province, emphasised the city's enduring presence in her life. She specifically thanked her early teachers for their invaluable legacy. These included cantaor Chiqui de la Línea, bailaora Yolanda Cortés, and flamenquista José Maya. Additionally, she acknowledged ballet teacher Tatiana Yerakhavets, who helped prepare the choreography for the 'Lux Tour' one and a half months before its commencement.
Rosalía spoke about her learning journey and her commitment to artistic exploration. "I am very grateful to share this learning process with you," she stated. "In a world today where so many eyes are watching, I do not want to stop doing what excites me, and I have always dared to try new things." This sentiment resonated with the audience, highlighting her dedication to artistic growth despite global scrutiny.
Viral Confessional Moments
During her final Barcelona concert, Rosalía invited musician and YouTuber Rojuu to participate in her popular 'confessional' segment. Rojuu candidly admitted to being "the pearl" of his last relationship. He asked the Catalan singer to "redeem" him for his past misbehaviour. "I met the love of my life, and the situation overwhelmed me," Rojuu confessed to Rosalía, as reported by EFE. "I was searching for something outside that I already had within. When I realised this and wanted to try again, she had already moved on."
Rosalía responded with empathy and a forward-looking message. "Much has been written about heartbreak, but let us aim for good love," she advised. Rojuu was among several notable guests who joined Rosalía on stage for the confessional segment in Barcelona. Previous guests included singer Bad Gyal, Guitarricadelafuente, and actress Yolanda Ramos, adding unique local flavour to each performance.
A Theatrical Spectacle
The nearly two-hour spectacle transformed the stage into a museum-like setting. Rosalía performed her songs as if they were works of art. Her repertoire spanned from the lyrical themes of 'Lux', such as "Mio Cristo Piange Diamanti" (My Christ Weeps Diamonds), to the more playful versions from 'Motomami', including "Despechá" (Spiteful), "Bizcochito" (Biscuit), and "Keep it Cute." The Palau Sant Jordi, a major indoor sports arena and concert venue in Barcelona with a capacity of up to 17,960, provided a grand backdrop for this artistic display.
Beyond her usual setlist, the singer also delivered a captivating cover of Frankie Valli's "Can't Take My Eyes Off You." For this performance, she dressed as the Mona Lisa, with a backdrop featuring Montserrat mountain and several spectators joining her on stage. This creative staging underscored her artistic vision and connection to Catalan imagery. Rosalía's 'Lux Tour' now moves to Amsterdam, where she will perform on 22 and 23 April.
