Salva Vendrell, president of Barcelona Restauració, will stand as Junts per Catalunya's candidate for the Valldoreix Municipal Entity (EMD) presidency in next year's municipal elections. Former Barcelona Mayor Xavier Trias and Junts president in the Barcelona City Council, Jordi Martí Galbis, supported his presentation this week.

Vendrell brings extensive experience in Barcelona's commerce and restaurant sectors. He has led Barcelona Restauració since last October. Before this, he served as president of the Barcelona Commerce Foundation and the Barcelona Restaurant Guild.

Junts per Valldoreix stated on Instagram that the municipality requires change. "We are prepared to lead a new stage with strength, ambition, and commitment," the party posted. Vendrell himself affirmed that change in Valldoreix must be "profound."

Vendrell's Vision for Valldoreix

He said this change should start with the EMD itself. "We need a Valldoreix administration that works, listens, acts with rigour, and responds to the challenges on the table," Vendrell stated. He added that this comes "out of public service vocation and because I firmly believe we must serve the residents."

Vendrell also expressed his belief in "collaboration with Sant Cugat, to add and never subtract." He plans to work "hand in hand with Mayor Josep Maria Vallès." Valldoreix is a municipal entity located within the larger municipality of Sant Cugat del Vallès. This area is a key part of the Barcelona metropolitan region.

Barcelona Restauració's Role

Barcelona Restauració launched last autumn, in partnership with the Barcelona Commerce Foundation. Sources from the entity told Tot Barcelona that they have not yet discussed Vendrell leaving his presidency.

When Barcelona Restauració began, some saw it as a counterweight to the Barcelona Restaurant Guild, led by director general Roger Pallarols. Vendrell denied this in October. He stated, "We do not come to compete with anyone, nor to overlap with anyone. We complement, we add."

Political Support and Connections

Representatives from various political parties attended the launch of Barcelona Restauració. These included Albert Batlle, Deputy Mayor for Security and Prevention, and Jordi Martí Galbis. Daniel Sirera, president of the People's Party (PP) in the City Council, also attended.

Other attendees were Jordi Castellana, an Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya (ERC) councillor, and Barcelona en Comú councillors Carol Recio and Pau Gonzàlez. PP councillors Víctor Martí de Villafante and Sònia Devesa were present. Former PP president in the City Council, Alberto Fernández, and former President of the Parliament of Catalonia, Laura Borràs, also joined the event.

Vendrell's candidacy sets the stage for a significant local election in Valldoreix next year. His future role at Barcelona Restauració remains undecided as the campaign progresses.
