Police in the Barcelona area are searching for an armed gang after a robbery at a gold buying jewellery shop in Sant Adrià de Besòs on Friday at 18:00.

According to reports, the group used a pistol and sledgehammers in a raid that lasted about two minutes. They were dressed entirely in white and were carrying a bag when they targeted the shop.

The robbers forced their way into the area where the shop assistant was located. Witnesses reported loud shouts and the sound of a gunshot. A neighbour told La Sexta Barcelona: "I heard the shot, I looked out the window."

The Mossos d'Esquadra, Catalonia's police force, have opened an investigation and are trying to identify the people involved. The speed of the attack suggests it was planned.

Sant Adrià de Besòs borders Barcelona and is part of the wider metropolitan area. The incident has raised concern among local residents and business owners, especially in commercial areas that handle valuable goods.
