The renewed ‘Programa Futur’ initiative, which previously delivered strong results during the COVID-19 crisis, now receives fresh funding to help small and medium enterprises navigate current economic challenges.
Expanded Sant Boi Business Grants Target New Ventures
The council has introduced a significant new element to the programme: dedicated support for businesses established during 2024 or 2025. This forward-thinking approach recognises the unique challenges facing recently launched enterprises in today’s market conditions. Furthermore, the initiative benefits from financial backing through the Metropolitan Plan for Social Policies from the Barcelona Metropolitan Area.

According to the official announcement, the New Economic Activity Aid Line provides crucial financial assistance for startup costs. These include business registration fees, licensing charges, premises adaptation work, and covering rental expenses for the first six months of operation.
Meanwhile, local housing policies continue to evolve across the region, with recent reports indicating that rental caps have contributed to falling prices in some areas. This economic context makes business support programmes particularly valuable for maintaining local commercial vitality.
Digital Transformation and Sustainability Focus
The Improvement Actions for Business and Commerce Line specifically funds projects completed during 2024 or 2025 that incorporate technological innovation. Consequently, companies can receive subsidies for digital transition initiatives including remote work implementation, new applications, website development, online stores, digital customer management, and digital marketing campaigns.
Sustainability measures also qualify for support under the expanded Sant Boi business grants programme. Businesses can seek funding for upgrading installations and lighting systems, waste reduction initiatives, and accessibility improvements such as stairlifts, handrails, ramps, entrance modifications, and bathroom adaptations.
The council’s commitment to local enterprise reflects broader regional trends, where recent housing initiatives have demonstrated how strategic investment can address community needs while stimulating economic activity.
Between 2020 and 2022, the original ‘Programa Futur’ allocated €530,000 in assistance, benefiting 248 local shops and SMEs. These previous grants, supported by Barcelona Provincial Council, primarily focused on digital transformation, economic diversification, and ecological transition – priorities that remain central to the renewed programme.
The revival of these Sant Boi business grants demonstrates how successful crisis-response measures can evolve into long-term economic development tools. By building on proven strategies while adapting to current needs, the council aims to strengthen the local business ecosystem for sustainable growth.
