Catalunya’s wealthiest municipalities have been revealed for 2023. Tax agency data shows Sant Just Desvern remains the richest town for the second consecutive year.

The annual income tax statistics cover municipalities with over 1,000 residents. These figures provide detailed insight into average earnings across Spain. The report tracks gross personal income, offering an estimate of theoretical wealth.
Madrid leads all regions with an average gross income of 40,801 euros. Pozuelo de Alarcón tops the national ranking at over 88,000 euros. Catalunya comes second amongst Spanish regions at 35,925 euros average.
Sant Just Desvern recorded more than 67,000 euros average income per person. This makes the Baix Llobregat town Spain’s third wealthiest municipality. Meanwhile, it keeps its position as Catalunya’s richest.
Sant Cugat del Vallès jumped from fourth to second place in Catalunya’s ranking. The Vallès Occidental town now boasts 66,073 euros average income. This represents an increase of nearly 4,000 euros in just one year.
The rise pushed Sant Cugat from seventh to fourth nationally. It overtook Matadepera, another Barcelona province municipality. Consequently, Sant Cugat demonstrates significant economic growth.
Barcelona province dominates Catalunya’s top ten wealthiest towns. All ten municipalities on the regional list sit within Barcelona province. This concentration highlights the area’s economic strength.
