A Sant Cugat truck accident occurred on Monday morning, 9 February, when a refrigerated lorry veered off the road and plunged from a bridge. Consequently, the driver sustained injuries, requiring a complex rescue operation by local emergency services.

The truck fell approximately five metres from a bridge. It landed in a stream bed with low water levels. The impact caused the vehicle to overturn onto its side. This trapped the driver inside the cab with no means of escape.
Emergency Rescue Operation After Sant Cugat Truck Accident
Emergency services responded rapidly to the scene. They deployed five crews from the Generalitat Firefighters (Bombers), an ambulance from the Medical Emergency System (SEM), and officers from the Mossos d’Esquadra.
Upon arrival, rescuers found the driver conscious and in generally good condition. However, he had suffered minor injuries. To extract him safely, firefighters used specialist equipment to cut through the windscreen of the truck’s cab.
Once freed, the driver was secured onto a rigid spinal board. He was then hoisted back up to the bridge level. Medical personnel attended to him before his transfer to Terrassa Hospital. He was admitted in a stable condition.
Weekend of Road Incidents in Catalonia
This Sant Cugat truck accident was not the only vehicle overturn reported in Catalonia recently. Meanwhile, on Sunday night at approximately 10:30 pm, a van overturned on the AP-7 motorway near Biure, in Alt Empordà, Girona.
Three individuals sustained minor injuries in the Sunday incident. While two occupants managed to exit the vehicle unaided, the third required extraction by firefighters. Subsequently, he was taken to the Josep Trueta Hospital in Girona.
