Barcelona PP leader Daniel Sirera has attacked mayor Jaume Collboni over the situation at Can Vies, saying the council is allowing what he called a “barra libre” for squatters.
Sirera said Collboni is protecting the people occupying the building and argued that the site should be turned into public facilities for the neighbourhood. He also called for a police presence at events held there.
The row centres on Can Vies, a long-running flashpoint in Barcelona politics and neighbourhood debate. Sirera’s comments add fresh pressure on the city government as it faces criticism over how it handles occupied buildings and public order.
