Furthermore, the company began building new elements before demolishing the old venue through complete digitalisation and parallel manufacturing in specialised workshops. This approach demonstrates how modern technology can dramatically accelerate traditional construction timelines.
Joaquín Frigola, CEO of ConstruNext, emphasised the project’s significance, stating: “This project demonstrates that when you question and redesign the entire construction process, the limits disappear.” The construction methodology represents a major advancement for Barcelona’s business and entertainment sectors, potentially influencing future urban development projects throughout the metropolitan area.
The technical specifications reveal the scale of this transformation: three kilometres of LED lighting, 228 prefabricated modules, and a concrete 3D printer developed by UPC alumni. Consequently, the Sutton Club transforms not only its physical space but also construction methodology for entertainment venues across Barcelona.
Enhanced Visitor Experience and Global Ambitions
Robert Massanet, the nightclub director, described the new design as “enveloping, spectacular and technically impeccable.” He added: “Having achieved all this in such a short time is a milestone for us.” The renovations include relocating and expanding the DJ booth, installing curved furniture, and creating a more immersive atmosphere while maintaining the luxurious, classic aura that has characterised the venue throughout its nearly 25-year history.
The timing of this transformation is particularly strategic. According to La Vanguardia’s coverage, Sutton already ranked 12th in The World’s 100 Best Clubs 2025 list before the renovation. Owner Toni Cano now predicts an even stronger position in future global nightlife rankings, positioning Barcelona as a leader in innovative entertainment venues.
This project represents the latest evolution for the Cano family, who also operate other prominent Barcelona venues including Gatsby, Bikini and Imperator.
