The Swiss Business School (SBS) Barcelona is significantly expanding its footprint in the city’s technological 22@ district. Consequently, the institution is doubling its surface area to accommodate a new business incubator and enhanced facilities for its growing international student body.
Swiss Business School Barcelona Expansion in the ‘Catalan Manchester’
Located on Carrer de Pamplona in the industrial heart of Poblenou, SBS Barcelona has operated from its current brick building since April 2025. This building is characteristic of the so-called ‘Catalan Manchester’ style. Meanwhile, the campus sits in a strategic hub near the Razzmatazz venue and corporate headquarters for companies such as Mango and Socialpoint.

This January, the school’s management secured the keys to the building’s third floor. Previously, a camping association occupied this space. The acquisition allows SBS to expand vertically, mirroring the ground floor’s dimensions. Construction will begin shortly to adapt the space for new uses.
The new upper floor will house administrative offices, which currently overflow into a coworking space. In addition, it will feature a spacious leisure area for students, a large terrace, and a dedicated space for incubating alumni projects.
Fostering Entrepreneurship
The core of this Swiss Business School Barcelona expansion is a business incubator. This facility encourages graduates to launch innovative ventures. According to the school, a current student will be the first beneficiary of this initiative.
Adrià Alsina, Director of the Barcelona campus, emphasised the goal. He stated it is not mass production of degrees but a qualitative improvement in the student journey. “What we want is to expand the experience during and after studies, for example with more educational pathways and the incubator,” Alsina explained.
The school maintains a ‘startup aesthetic’ with versatile classrooms. These feature mobile desks and digital boards. Furthermore, the open-plan entrance hall doubles as an agora with bleachers for events, an open dining area, and a relaxation zone.
Swiss Quality, Global Demographics
SBS positions itself by combining Swiss educational rigour with the lifestyle appeal of the Catalan capital. “Switzerland has the best education system in Western Europe, according to PISA reports… all careers are based on applying the scientific method,” said Alsina. “Here we offer the experience of Swiss quality and demands, with the attractiveness and prices of studying in Barcelona.”
The institution prefers class sizes under ten students. This ensures personalised attention. The student profile is increasingly global, comprising young Europeans, Asians, and Americans. Alsina noted a specific recent trend: entire families from the United States relocating to Europe. This trend is driven by the political climate following the return of Donald Trump.
Academic Offerings
Currently, SBS offers a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management with nine specialisations. These range from classic finance to football club management. They also provide three Master’s degrees in Analytics, International Commerce, and Marketing. All qualifications are official Swiss degrees.
Internship placements are curated through the team’s direct contacts rather than generic agreements. This approach aims to align specific student strengths with company needs. As the school deepens its roots in the 22@ district, it plans to host more workshops and talks. Therefore, it projects itself as a hub of activity.
“We are a purely private initiative, but we would be delighted to collaborate with the city council in whatever we can for the projection of Barcelona, its quality of life and its talent,” Alsina concluded.
