Barcelona’s Teatre Borràs will stage a fresh Catalan version of Michael Frayn’s classic farce Noises Off (Pel davant i pel darrera) from Thursday 25 September until 11 January 2026.

The play, celebrating 40 years since its original premiere, arrives with renewed energy in what will be the sixth Catalan adaptation. Organisers promise a brisk pace and updated staging that remain faithful to the spirit of Frayn’s script while giving it a contemporary edge.
Directed by Alexander Herold and adapted by Paco Mir, the production is backed by Anexa and features a heavyweight cast: Jordi Banacolocha, Agnès Busquets, Jordi Díaz, Alex Ferré, Meritxell Huertas, Mónica Macfer, Rocío Madrid, Octavi Pujades and Jordi Vidal.
First staged at London’s Lyric Theatre, Noises Off has been performed in more than 50 countries. The comedy, famous for its farcical look at a troupe trying—and failing—to perform a mediocre British play, unfolds in three acts: a chaotic dress rehearsal, a backstage perspective of a performance, and a final show in which everything collapses into comic anarchy.
For Barcelona audiences, the revival offers a mix of nostalgia and novelty, combining the enduring hilarity of Frayn’s play with a staging designed to appeal to modern sensibilities.
