Barcelona’s Eixample has become home to the city’s latest cultural import — a Korean-style supermarket that blends food, fashion and music in one vibrant setting. Kim Market, which opened on 5 July on Carrer de València 195, is already drawing crowds of K-culture enthusiasts.

At first glance, the shop resembles an ordinary convenience store. Step inside, however, and the atmosphere shifts to something closer to Seoul. The interior has been styled to resemble a Korean bus stop, with shelves brimming with ramen, colourful ice creams, spicy snacks and ready-to-eat meals. Drinks and sweets share space with beauty products and K-pop collectibles, some featuring global icons like BTS. Limited-edition items tied to anime and manga also line the aisles.

The store’s Instagram account highlights its mix of ‘snacks, flavours, culture and flow’, positioning itself not just as a supermarket but as a meeting point for fans of Hallyu, the Korean cultural wave that has swept through film, music, beauty and lifestyle in recent years. Open daily from 10am to 10pm, Kim Market has quickly become a magnet for locals and tourists keen to sample a slice of Korean life without leaving Catalonia.

The arrival of such a concept in Barcelona reflects the growing demand for international cultural experiences in European cities, particularly those that merge consumer goods with lifestyle branding. As K-pop, K-dramas and Korean skincare continue to gain global traction, it seems likely that Kim Market will not be the last of its kind in Spain.
