Barcelona’s Tibidabo amusement park will mark this year’s La Mercè celebrations by offering free access to some of its most emblematic attractions. On Wednesday 24 September, a local holiday, visitors will be able to enjoy the park’s panoramic area and funicular without charge for the first time.

The City Council has confirmed that the open day will include rides on iconic attractions such as the Giradabo, Talaia, Avión, Carrusel and the Museu d’Autòmats. To take part, residents must pre-register online using a promotional code, with places available on a first-come, first-served basis. The invitation also extends to the Cuca de Llum, the funicular that carries passengers up to the park’s summit.

Situated 500 metres above sea level, the panoramic area is the highest point of Tibidabo, offering sweeping views across Barcelona. While access to the viewing terrace is usually free, the rides normally require paid admission. This year’s initiative marks a significant expansion of the city’s effort to make cultural and recreational spaces more accessible during public festivities.

The Museu d’Autòmats, a much-loved collection of antique mechanical figures, will also be included. It became part of the city’s roster of museums with monthly free-entry days earlier this year, and its addition to the La Mercè celebrations further cements Tibidabo’s role as both an amusement park and cultural landmark.

How to register

To get in, you must pre-register and obtain an invitation (pulsera de Área Panorámica) using the promotional codeMERCE25.

  • Go to the official Tibidabo website’s La Mercè page and click “Reserva ahora” / “Book here” to reserve.
  • After reserving, redeem your invitation at one of these locations: Tibidabo ticket offices, Tibidabo Store, or at Aparcament BSM Sant Genís.

Note: Invitations are limited and are already sold out for the Panoramic Area as of the latest update.

The move is expected to draw large crowds, blending tradition with modern leisure in a celebration that highlights the city’s commitment to public access and shared heritage.
