Only two passengers were travelling on the bus at the time, both escaping unharmed. However, the driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital. The damaged bus operates line D-40, which runs between Plaça d’Espanya and the Canyelles neighbourhood.

The council hasn’t confirmed what caused the driver to lose control. Guàrdia Urbana is investigating the accident. The crash forced the closure of the FGC station entrance where the bus collided. The Balmes and Guillem Tell junction is close to Plaça Molina, where there are two stations: Plaça Molina and Sant Gervasi. Though the council didn’t specify which was affected, passengers confirmed to Tot Barcelona that Sant Gervasi station was closed. FGC didn’t announce the access closure on social media.

The article also mentions a previous incident on 15 September when a car became trapped in the metro at Guinardó | Hospital de Sant Pau station on line 4. The vehicle went down several steps of the station stairs, which closed whilst it was removed. That driver was unharmed.
