Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) has launched its annual satisfaction survey, inviting metro and bus users to provide feedback on public transport services until 10 May. This initiative allows Barcelona to benchmark its network against major global cities like New York, London, and Paris. The anonymous questionnaire aims to gather user opinions and identify areas for improvement.

The survey also compares Barcelona’s service quality with 16 other global capitals. These include Berlin, Shenzhen, Brussels, and Madrid. Any traveller, whether a regular commuter or an occasional user, can participate.

Evaluating Service Quality

The quick questionnaire contains 20 questions. Participants can complete it in less than five minutes. It allows users to evaluate key aspects of the service. TMB uses standardised parameters for the survey. This aligns with the European quality standard UNE 13816. This standard ensures rigorous and objective comparisons between cities.

International Benchmarking Efforts

This study forms part of a joint comparative effort. The International Bus Benchmarking Group (IBBG) and metro groups CoMET and Nova conduct this work. These international groups analyse all responses. They treat all data strictly confidentially. Their goal is to identify best practices across the sector.

User Feedback Drives Improvement

User participation is crucial for TMB to enhance its services. It helps maintain Barcelona’s competitive standing among leading global transport networks. Users can access the survey via a specific section on the TMB website. The deadline for participation is 10 May.
