The transport operator will open a dedicated retail outlet in the passageway connecting L5 and L2 lines, positioned strategically near the station’s ticket offices where visitor footfall is guaranteed.

TMB Sagrada Família Store Details Emerge

According to documents seen by Tot Barcelona, the project involves a substantial investment of €1.95 million for the initial three-year contract period.

Furthermore, the agreement includes a potential two-year extension that could bring the total value to €3.63 million including VAT. The store will exclusively sell TMB-branded products rather than general Barcelona souvenirs, distinguishing it from typical tourist shops.

The initiative came to light when an observant regular metro user noticed activity in a previously shuttered unit last Friday. Consequently, they captured photographic evidence suggesting the store might be called “TMB La Botiga,” although the company has not officially confirmed this name. Meanwhile, the tender documents provide detailed staffing plans requiring coordination personnel, shop staff, and promoters totalling €536,076 annually before tax.

Barcelona’s public transport system continues to evolve with innovative approaches to passenger engagement. This development follows other recent transport innovations, including recent trials of autonomous buses on city streets. The merchandise store represents another step in enhancing the travel experience while generating additional revenue streams.

Product offerings will include Hola Barcelona travel cards, Telefèric tickets, Barcelona Bus Turístic packages, and various TMB-branded merchandise. However, company representatives have explicitly ruled out selling generic city souvenirs or products unrelated to the transport network. This TMB Sagrada Família venture follows established models from other European transport networks. Madrid Metro, for instance, successfully operates three similar stores at Sol, Plaza de Castilla and Ópera stations. Additionally, Barcelona’s TRAM system already maintains an online shop selling branded clothing, stationery and household items, demonstrating the commercial potential of transport merchandise.
