Two individuals attempted to steal luggage and assaulted a train conductor on an Iryo high-speed service to Barcelona-Sants. The incident occurred on Tuesday, 28 April, around 22:00, causing a significant delay for passengers near Tarragona.

The train was operating its regular route, connecting Seville and Madrid before continuing towards Barcelona. A vigilant passenger noticed two people attempting to take their luggage from the storage area. The passenger confronted the suspects directly and successfully recovered their belongings. Following this, the passenger promptly alerted the train's crew to the situation.

Train conductors then approached the two individuals about the attempted theft. A heated discussion quickly started between the crew members and the suspects. During this confrontation, one of the suspects kicked a crew member. Fortunately, the conductor sustained no serious injuries and did not require immediate medical assistance.

The incident forced the Iryo train to stop for a considerable time near Vilallonga del Camp. This location is just before the Camp de Tarragona station, situated in La Secuita, Tarragona. The train driver informed passengers via the public address system about the unexpected interruption. The driver cited an attempted theft and "behaviour conflicting with the crew" from the suspects as the reason for the delay.

Police Respond at Camp de Tarragona

Mossos d'Esquadra officers met the Iryo train upon its arrival at Camp de Tarragona station. The Catalan police confirmed the details of the incident to ElCaso.com. Despite the attempted theft and the assault on a crew member, no arrests were made at the station. Authorities have not released the nationality of the suspects involved.
