Barcelona tram strikes scheduled for November have been officially cancelled following a successful negotiation breakthrough between workers and management.

The decision comes after weeks of tense discussions over collective bargaining agreements that had previously led to industrial action.

Workers had initially staged a single day of strikes on October 31st and held a crucial assembly on November 10th.

However, the planned strikes for November 17th, 21st and 28th will no longer proceed after both parties reached a satisfactory resolution. Daniel Juan Bernabeu, a member of the Trambaix UTE works committee, confirmed the development to press representatives.

Barcelona Tram Strikes Resolution Details

“We still need a few weeks to finalise the collective agreement, but there won’t be any strikes unless negotiations take an unexpected turn,” Bernabeu explained. The key sticking point had been meal allowance payments, which has now been resolved through mutual agreement.

Furthermore, both sides acknowledged that only minor issues remain to be settled, with none considered significant enough to derail the progress made. The works committee will now begin drafting the formal document that will govern employment conditions moving forward.

This resolution comes as welcome news for Barcelona’s public transport users, who faced potential disruption during one of the city’s busiest periods. The cancellation of strikes ensures consistent service across the tram network during the crucial pre-holiday season.

The agreement demonstrates how constructive dialogue can prevent further transport disruptions in Barcelona that often affect both residents and visitors. Meanwhile, transport authorities have expressed relief that normal services will continue uninterrupted.

According to official reports from 20 Minutos, the resolution marks a significant step forward in labour relations within Barcelona’s public transport sector. The successful negotiation outcome ensures that Barcelona tram strikes will not disrupt the city’s mobility in the coming weeks.
