The gastronomic universe of the black truffle takes centre stage in Vic this weekend. The eighth edition of Trufforum Vic opens its doors. This black truffle fair arrives during what experts call a “very good” season. Consequently, the sector forecasts a harvest exceeding 7.5 tons across Catalonia.
Hosted in Osona’s capital, the event runs from Saturday, 7 February, to Sunday, 8 February, at the Recinte del Sucre. The weekend programme promises a blend of high gastronomy, industry commerce, and family-friendly activities. Therefore, it aims to bring the prized fungus closer to the general public.

Trufforum Vic Black Truffle Fair: A Bumper Season
Optimism surrounds this year’s Trufforum Vic black truffle fair, driven by excellent harvest projections. Industry associations report an exceptionally productive season. They expect to gather 7.5 tons of the delicacy throughout the region. This abundance should be reflected in the quality and quantity of produce at the fair’s central market.
The market opens at 10:00 am on Saturday. It features associations and companies offering premium quality truffles directly to consumers. Meanwhile, photojournalist and gastronome Toni Carrasco will present recipe books dedicated to cooking with the ingredient.
Star Chefs and Tasting Sessions at Trufforum Vic
Culinary demonstrations remain a major draw for the Trufforum Vic black truffle fair. A dedicated tasting space opens from 11:00 am on Saturday. It offers tapas featuring truffles prepared by notable local establishments. These include Mas Monells, Can Jubany, Casamar, and Eukarya.
Simultaneously, a live cooking session hosted by journalist Helena Garcia-Melero will feature renowned chefs Nandu Jubany and Oriol Castro. The latter is from the celebrated Barcelona restaurant Disfrutar.
Innovation is also on the agenda. The competition for the best truffled product in Catalonia will be decided by a professional jury through a blind tasting process.
Family Activities and Truffle Dogs at the Fair
Sunday’s schedule shifts focus towards community and tradition. A popular breakfast will be held, offering a savoury dish and a glass of wine for 10 euros. In addition, families can visit an experimental zone between 12:00 pm and 12:45 pm. This zone is specifically designed to introduce children to the unique flavours of the truffle.
A highlight for many visitors will be the Catalonia Truffle Dog Championship. This year, 24 teams of handlers and dogs will compete for the crown. They will demonstrate the skill and bond required to hunt for the ‘black diamond’ of the kitchen.
