Goat’s Unexpected Entrance
Customers and staff at the supermarket, located on Sant Llorenç street in Matadepera, experienced moments of tension. The visibly frightened goat ran through the aisles, causing a stir among shoppers. The disoriented animal even urinated on the floor during its unexpected visit. Several customers and workers attempted to guide the goat out of the premises. They successfully herded it towards the exit.
Fleeing an Unleashed Dog
The goat belonged to a herd grazing in the Can Bogunyà area, situated between Terrassa and Matadepera. An unleashed dog began pursuing the herd, causing the animals to scatter in panic. While most goats returned to their corral shortly after, one became separated and lost its way. It eventually entered the urban centre of Matadepera before finding its way into the supermarket. Matadepera, a municipality in the Vallès Occidental comarca, is known for its natural surroundings and proximity to the Sant Llorenç del Munt i l’Obac Natural Park. This area often sees livestock grazing near residential zones.
Resolution and Regulations
The incident concluded happily when the goat exited the supermarket and its shepherd collected it. The shepherd then returned the animal safely to the rest of the herd. This unusual event serves as a timely reminder of current regulations. These rules require dogs to be leashed in public spaces, including forested areas and especially near grazing livestock. Adhering to these regulations helps prevent incidents like the one that occurred this Thursday, ensuring the safety of both animals and the public.
