Barcelona’s Vall d’Hebron Hospital is celebrating its 70th anniversary with an immersive exhibition at Palau Robert, which runs from 3 October until 11 January. The display shows what makes the hospital an international reference point in healthcare.

More than 600 people attended Thursday’s opening, including Health Minister Olga Pané and her predecessor Josep Maria Argimon. Pané highlighted that Vall d’Hebron handles 28% of all emergency cases in Catalonia, 10% of hospital discharges, and 40% of transplants. Right now, the hospital’s staff provide top-level care to everyone, regardless of their circumstances.
Hospital manager Albert Salazar explained that the exhibition aims to share what sets Vall d’Hebron apart. The display takes visitors through a circular route exploring how the hospital tackles challenges at each stage of life, from birth to old age.
The exhibition features five interactive life experiences covering everything from a baby’s first heartbeat through to elderly care. Meanwhile, it includes historical context about the Campus Vall d’Hebron’s past, present work, and future plans.
Pané said the exhibition recognises Vall d’Hebron’s history whilst looking ahead. The hospital has been a cornerstone of Barcelona’s healthcare for seven decades and continues to push medical boundaries.
