The first October weekend brings back Viu Montjuïc, a joint programme from all the mountain’s cultural and sports venues. On Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 October, you’ll find over 90 free activities for all ages. From guided park tours to family events, concerts, dance, theatre and architecture, there’s something for everyone.

The programme aims to “remember Montjuïc”, “discover Montjuïc” and “experience Montjuïc”, reaching different types of residents and visitors whilst showing off everything the park offers. Attendance has doubled over four years, with around 80,000 people turning up last edition. Organisers expect another successful turnout this year.
Some activities need advance booking due to limited capacity. The registration deadline closes Friday 3 October at noon. You can check the full schedule and book your spot through the Viu Montjuïc website. Meanwhile, the council celebrates that this fifth edition has grown both in partner organisations and total activities offered.

Highlights include a popular rice dish from Colla de l’Arròs gastronomy society, a literary route for Paco Candel’s birth centenary, a concert featuring six new bands at CaixaFòrum, a Fundació Joan Miró performance, Montjuïc Dansat shows, family activities at the Archaeology Museum, and community fountain events at Plaça Margarida Xirgu.
You’ll also find unique offerings like climbing initiation at La Foixarda, a botanical cemetery tour, a sports collector meet-up, a poetic show in Laribal gardens, and a rock storytelling session at CaixaFòrum. Both days feature open doors at major venues including MNAC, the castle, Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys and Poble Espanyol.
The initiative started with the mountain’s cultural players, who fund it alongside Barcelona council using part of the tourist tax revenue. Originally planned for summer 2020, the pandemic delayed the launch until October 2021. This setback actually worked out, consolidating the event as an early autumn fixture after La Mercè.
