As summer gives way to autumn, Catalonia ushers in a weekend brimming with cultural highlights, local festivities and seasonal markets. From book fairs to open-water swims, there is no shortage of things to see and do across the region.

- 43rd Catalan Book Week — Passeig de Lluís Companys: Running from 19 to 28 September, this festival showcases over 125 new publications and provides a meeting point for readers, authors and publishers in Catalan.
- 97th Travessia al Port / Port Swimming Event, Barcelona: On Saturday morning starting at 08:30 h at the Moll de Bosch i Alsina, this mass participation open-water swim includes several categories, including a segment of the Spanish Open Water Cup.
- Barcelona Gallery Weekend: Until 21 September, 24 galleries across Barcelona and L’Hospitalet are open with contemporary art exhibitions, guided tours and events.
