In Badalona, Ecologistes en Acció has taken Badalona City Council to court over a plan to build 55 homes near Can Solei i Ca l'Arnús park. The group wants the project suspended while the case is heard, after the council approved the urban plan on 10 April.

The environmental group says the scheme would cause irreversible damage to cultural heritage. It argues that the development, on land once used by the Covesa dealership, would affect the historic entrance to the park from Sant Bru Street. The site is owned by Direxis-Tusgsal, a Badalona-based company that manages urban bus services in Barcelonès Nord.

According to the group, the council dismissed more than 100 objections from individuals and organisations before giving the plan the green light. Ecologistes en Acció has filed a contentious-administrative appeal and asked for precautionary measures so no works can begin while the case is ongoing. In a press release, it said the approved urbanisation "destroys the historic entrance via Sant Bru Street" and "opens the door to the construction of 55 homes in a space under provisional protection equivalent to a Cultural Asset of National Interest".

Municipal sources quoted by El Periódico said the Catalan Government had already stated that the former Covesa warehouses are outside the park. They also said Ecologistes en Acció is within its rights to take legal action, and that the council believes the project is legal, while respecting whatever the courts decide.

Can Solei i Ca l'Arnús park covers ten hectares and is Badalona’s main green space. It has been protected as a Cultural Asset of Local Interest since 1984, and it is now going through the process to become a Cultural Asset of National Interest. The Catalan Government started that process in November 2025. Ecologistes en Acció says the project also lacks a mandatory special protection plan for the historic garden, and that it does not have the Culture Department authorisation needed for a site under provisional BCIN protection.

The contentious-administrative court number 16 in Barcelona has accepted the appeal and given the council 20 days to submit the administrative file. Ecologistes en Acció says it will then set out the full grounds for nullity under public law. The group has also submitted objections to the Catalan Government over the BCIN declaration, asking for the final boundary to include the whole park area.
