Barcelona commuters using community transport links now have a new Bicibox parking facility at El Prat de Llobregat’s Rodalies station. The Barcelona Metropolitan Area, AMB, has opened 61 spaces for bikes and scooters at the station.
The project was fully funded by AMB, with an investment of 157,553 euros. The aim is to make it easier for people to combine cycling or scootering with train travel, which supports more joined-up journeys across the Barcelona metropolitan area.
El Prat de Llobregat is an important transport point for people travelling into Barcelona city centre and other destinations in the region. The Bicibox system offers secure, covered parking for personal mobility vehicles, which can help remove one of the practical barriers to using active travel for the commute.
AMB says the new facility is part of its wider work to support sustainable mobility and reduce private car use. The expansion of Bicibox parking across the metropolitan area is intended to make everyday travel more convenient for residents who want to use public transport alongside bikes or scooters.
