Barcelona City Council has recovered a municipal property at Carrer de Sants 443-445, in Sants, after the closure of the Mami nightclub. The move follows a long legal process and clears the way for the planned expansion of Riera Blanca.

The Sants-Badal Residents' Association welcomed the closure after years of complaints about noise and disruption. Residents told Infobarris they had dealt with shouting, singing, dancing, fights, and other disturbances, while nearby shopkeepers said the venue also left the area dirty and affected day-to-day life.

The nightclub opened shortly before the pandemic and gathered repeated complaints from neighbours. Barcelona's Court Number 16 authorised the administrative eviction after the case moved through civil and criminal courts, which both backed the council's position. The owners filed several appeals, including one to the High Court of Justice of Catalonia, but the court rejected the request for a precautionary suspension.

The Expropriation Jury of Catalonia ruled in October 2025 that the keys had to be handed over and possession returned. The courts also concluded that the occupants had no right to compensation. The administrative procedure began in 2023.

During the process, the Sants-Montjuïc district stayed in contact with residents and recorded repeated reports of noise and disturbances. The Urban Guard and the Mossos d'Esquadra attended on several occasions, and municipal services carried out inspections and deterrent actions. There were also incidents involving bladed weapons, which added to local safety concerns.

The council now plans to demolish the building so the land can be used for road space. That will allow the expansion of Riera Blanca, a project meant to improve local infrastructure, public space, and links between Sants and La Marina.
