A shooting in Barcelona's Sants-Montjuïc district on 24 April 2026, which left a Dominican man known as 'Robertico' seriously injured, has uncovered alleged links to a criminal gang and a murder in the Dominican Republic. The incident, which saw the victim receive seven gunshot wounds, has generated repercussions across the Atlantic, according to reports from Metrópoli Abierta.
'Robertico' underwent surgery at Hospital Clínic following the attack. Sources close to the investigation now link him to the criminal organisation "Los 30 del Kilombo" and several alleged executions ordered from Barcelona. This connection emerged after Metrópoli Abierta published details of the Barcelona shooting.
Angelina Sánchez Reynoso, a mother from Santo Domingo, has publicly accused 'Robertico' of being the "intellectual author" behind her daughter's murder. Her daughter, Joanca Natali Montero, was just 23 years old when gunmen executed her on 4 November 2023 in the Los Mina neighbourhood of Santo Domingo. Ms Sánchez has demanded justice since 2023, making her claims known through various Dominican media outlets and to Metrópoli Abierta.
International Links to a Tragic Murder
Ms Sánchez believes the conflict began with an earlier confrontation between her daughter and the Aquino family. Threats attributed to members of "Los 30 del Kilombo" then followed. Authorities have already sentenced the direct perpetrator of Joanca's murder to 30 years in prison. However, the family maintains that the order for the killing came from Spain.
Investigators also connect 'Robertico' to other violent events. They are examining his alleged involvement in an attempted murder on 24 April 2025, also in Los Mina. In that incident, hitmen on motorcycles attacked his ex-partner and her boyfriend, who both survived. Police are exploring whether the Barcelona shooting, occurring exactly one year later, constitutes a settling of scores stemming from this chain of events in the Dominican Republic.
Allegations of Organised Crime in Barcelona
Police sources indicate that 'Robertico' and his brother reside in Barcelona, the Catalan capital. They have reportedly established various businesses there. Investigation sources are tracing whether part of their assets in Spain originate from illicit activities. These activities are allegedly linked to "Los 30 del Kilombo", a gang primarily operating in Los Mina. The organisation faces accusations of drug trafficking and extortion in the Dominican Republic.
Authorities are investigating if this alleged criminal structure uses resources generated in Spain to maintain its influence in Dominican neighbourhoods. "They earn money from, among other things, the drug flats they run in different central city neighbourhoods," police sources detailed. These drug flats, known as 'narcopisos', pose significant challenges for residents in Barcelona's densely populated areas, often leading to increased crime and anti-social behaviour.
Ongoing Investigation and Calls for Justice
The Mossos d'Esquadra, Catalonia's police force, continue their investigation into the Sants-Montjuïc shooting. The assailant fled the scene on Sugranyes street using an electric scooter. The injured man remains in hospital, and police have made no arrests related to the public attack at this time.
Meanwhile, Angelina Sánchez continues her fight for justice as part of the group "Mujeres de Fe en Busca de Justicia" (Women of Faith in Search of Justice). The group regularly protests outside the Santo Domingo Public Prosecutor's Office. They call for authorities in both Spain and the Dominican Republic to collaborate fully. This collaboration aims to clarify all facts surrounding this alleged international criminal organisation.
