Intense Friday afternoon traffic combined with multiple accidents has created severe congestion across Barcelona's road network. The metropolitan area's main arterial routes are heavily affected, with Ronda de Dalt experiencing up to 9 kilometres of queues near Nus de la Trinitat and one lane closed on Ronda Litoral between Barcelona and Sant Adrià de Besòs.
Major Disruptions on Key Routes
The AP-7 motorway remains the most affected route, with a lorry accident at Badia del Vallès causing congestion spanning from Cerdanyola del Vallès and Sant Cugat in the direction of Girona. Additional queues of around 3 kilometres have formed between Mollet, Montmeló and Santa Perpètua de Mogoda following an earlier lane closure.
Ronda Litoral is experiencing retentions in both directions, whilst alternative routes into the city are similarly congested. The C-58 has a closed lane due to a broken-down vehicle, creating backups of several kilometres at Barcelona's entrance. The B-30 between Barberà del Vallès, Badia del Vallès and Sant Cugat del Vallès shows queues in both directions due to difficult access to the AP-7.
Scattered Incidents Across the Network
Punctual incidents continue across other routes. The C-31 in Badalona has one lane closed towards Barcelona following a collision, whilst the C-14 at Pira operates with alternating traffic due to another accident. The A-2 shows intense traffic in various sections of Baix Llobregat, with only one lane open towards Lleida in Abrera.
Motorists are advised to avoid the Barcelona metropolitan area where possible and allow additional travel time for essential journeys. Congestion is expected to continue throughout Friday evening as traffic volumes remain high.
