Barcelona commuters using the X30 express bus will see changes from Wednesday, 10 June, as the Barcelona Metropolitan Area (AMB) extends the line to Sant Feliu de Llobregat and adds 20 new articulated hybrid buses to the service.

The route currently links Mas Lluí in Sant Just Desvern with Barcelona’s Diagonal via the B-23 motorway. Under the new plan, it will also stop at Rambla Marquesa de Castellbell in Sant Feliu de Llobregat, about 250 metres on foot from Sant Feliu de Llobregat Rodalies station.

The AMB says the extra stop will improve links with the rail network and make it easier for residents to travel towards Barcelona, Molins de Rei and Martorell. Sant Just Desvern mayor Joan Basagañas said the change responds to user demand and improves access to the Primary Care Centre (CAP) and Sant Feliu train station.

The new buses are 18 metres long and are designed to carry more passengers. They include information screens, video surveillance cameras and USB charging points at seats. The AMB says the larger vehicles should help reduce crowding at busy times and improve the overall service.

Weekday frequency will stay at 15 minutes, although timetable changes will be made to fit the longer route. One extra vehicle will be added to keep the service running at the same level across the extended journey.

The move comes as demand for express bus services continues to rise. AMB data shows Express Metropolitan Bus lines recorded a 16.6% increase in users in the first four months of the year. For more local transport coverage, see our community and sport pages.
