Barcelona province is on alert this Sunday, with Anoia among 30 Catalan municipalities facing a very high wildfire risk. The warning also covers areas in Lleida and Tarragona.
Rural Agents activated Alfa Plan Level 3 after posting the alert on X, formerly Twitter. They said the risk is very high in 30 Catalan municipalities.
The counties named in the alert are Anoia, Alt Urgell, Noguera, Segarra, Segrià, Solsonès, Ribera d'Ebre and Terra Alta. The warning affects communities in three of Catalonia's four provinces.
In Noguera, Rural Agents have already started checking agricultural harvesting machinery. The inspections focus on fire extinguishing systems, maintenance, and compliance with fire prevention rules.
Alfa Plan is Catalonia's operational system for preventing and fighting forest fires. Level 3 is the highest risk category and means more surveillance by ground and air units, plus restrictions on activities such as burning agricultural waste or using machinery that can create sparks.
Residents in the affected municipalities are being urged to take extra care and report any signs of fire or suspicious activity to emergency services straight away. For more Barcelona-area updates, see our Community page and our Sport page.
