Cirque du Soleil has opened a new exhibition in Barcelona, providing a behind-the-scenes look at its upcoming 'Kurios' spectacle.

The 'Kurios - Cabinet of Curiosities: Beyond the Stage' exhibition is located at Casa Cupra Raval. It opened on Tuesday morning and will welcome visitors until 30 May. This display allows guests to explore the intricate craftsmanship behind the show's costumes and decorative elements. It also reveals the detailed preparation actors undergo before each performance.

Discovering 'Kurios' Backstage Secrets

Visitors can discover various figures and characters that will appear in the circus show. Explanatory posters and other related items reveal backstage insights. For example, the exhibition shows a mechanical hand weighing 340 kilograms. This fibreglass piece was specially constructed for the production.

The main 'Kurios' show will arrive in the Catalan capital on 3 September. It will perform at the Districte Cultural in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat. This area is a significant part of the Barcelona metropolitan area, home to many residents and cultural venues.

A Global Phenomenon Comes to Catalonia

The 'Kurios' spectacle first premiered in Canada in 2014. Since then, it has toured over 40 cities worldwide. The show has staged approximately 3,000 performances. More than 7 million tickets have been sold globally, proving its widespread appeal.

The production is set in an alternative past, suitable for all audiences. It follows a scientist discovering a hidden magical world. Once found, a cast of fantastic characters invades a tent filled with curiosities. Objects come to life, making the impossible a reality for spectators.

Barcelona residents and tourists can visit the exhibition at Casa Cupra Raval before the full show arrives later this year. This offers a unique opportunity to appreciate the artistry and effort involved in a Cirque du Soleil production.
