Barcelona has unveiled its plans for Sant Jordi 2026, revealing an expanded festival map that will stretch across the city's neighbourhoods. The celebration will feature hundreds of book and rose stalls, with vendors permitted to set up from 22 April, one day before the official 23 April festival date.

The Eixample district will remain the festival's epicentre, with a large car-free superilla, or pedestrian block, spanning from Avenida Diagonal to Gran Via and between Balmes and Pau Claris. This central zone will host hundreds of stalls, author signings, and cultural activities.

New expansion zones

This year marks significant expansion towards the waterfront and residential areas. The pedestrian zone now extends east to Portal de l'Àngel and Avenida de la Catedral, and westward along Gran de Gràcia beyond Passeig de Gràcia. Casa Batlló will once again display its iconic red rose-covered facade, though organisers warn visitors to expect large crowds at this popular spot during peak hours.

District-by-district locations

All ten Barcelona districts will host Sant Jordi stalls, allowing residents to enjoy a more local atmosphere away from central crowds. Ciutat Vella will feature stalls at Portal de l'Àngel, Avenida de la Catedral, and Passeig Lluís Companys. Eixample locations include Plaça Catalunya, Plaça Universitat, Rambla Catalunya, Passeig de Gràcia, and Passeig Sant Joan.

Sants-Montjuïc will have stalls on Rambla de Sants, whilst Les Corts will use the Diagonal between Joan Güell and Pau Romeva. Sarrià-Sant Gervasi's hub will be Plaça de Sarrià, with Gràcia district centring on Gran de Gràcia and Plaça de la Vila.

Horta-Guinardó will host stalls at Plaça Eivissa, Nou Barris at Via Júlia and Plaça Virrei Amat, Sant Andreu at Plaça Orfila, Plaça Comerç and Carrer Segre, and Sant Martí across Rambla del Poblenou, the Gabriel García Márquez Library area, and various district plazas.

Planning your visit

The expanded layout allows visitors to choose between the vibrant bustle of central Barcelona or quieter neighbourhood celebrations. Those seeking peak festival atmosphere should visit Passeig de Gràcia during off-peak hours to avoid congestion, particularly around Casa Batlló's famous facade.
