Barcelona police arrested several people after a shooting in El Born on Sant Joan’s Eve, with one person injured in Ciutat Vella.

According to Mossos d'Esquadra, the shooting happened around 11 pm on Tuesday and the injured person was taken to Bellvitge Hospital.

The force said the Criminal Investigation Division is leading the case, and the investigation is still active. That means officers may still be looking for witnesses or more details about what happened.

Later that night, a Guardia Urbana patrol stopped a vehicle a short distance from the scene and officers found a pistol and one kilogram of cocaine inside, according to the police report cited by 20 Minutos Barcelona.

For people living or working in El Born and the wider Ciutat Vella area, the practical step is to follow any police cordons, checks or notices, and keep an eye on official updates from Mossos. If you were nearby on the night, you may be asked for information as the inquiry continues.
