Barcelona commuters saw limited disruption at Barcelona Sants on Monday as Renfe said strike participation in the Barcelona area reached 5.85%.
The state rail operator said the impact was punctual rather than widespread, and that minimum services were more than met during the stoppage. For passengers using the city’s main rail station, some trains still ran under reduced service rules, but the day was marked more by frustration than by major delays.
Passengers at Sants told ACN they were already used to problems on the Rodalies network. One traveller, Ingrid, said: “Ya ni miro los horarios, cojo el tren que pasa.”
The R4 line, which serves Barcelona Sants, links the city with towns including Terrassa, Manresa and Sant Vicenç de Calders, according to the official R4 timetable. For live service information, the Catalan government publishes updates on the Rodalies de Catalunya website.
Renfe later said minimum services had been “sobradamente” met during the strike. The company did not publish station-by-station passenger counts or delay data for Monday morning, so the full effect on waiting times and crowding at each stop was not clear.
For Barcelona readers checking whether their train is running, it is worth checking official updates before heading to the station, especially for journeys on the R4 and other Rodalies lines. For more on local rail coverage, see our Community and Sport pages.
